My tour of the Vatican City was one of the highlights of my trip to Rome. The tour took us through the Vatican Museums, Raphael’s Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. All of which were breathtakingly beautiful. At the end of the tour we were free to explore St Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world, something that has to be seen with your own eyes to appreciate the grand scale and beauty of the place. We exited the Vatican by walking through St Peter’s square, where we could stand and take in the grandeur of an amazing site.
Most of my photos are of the Vatican Museums, as you are not allowed to take photos in the Sistine Chapel and Raphael’s rooms due to the damage that the flash can do to the artwork. I noticed a lot of people ignoring these rules which annoyed me quite a lot. It is a privilege to be allowed in these places, not a right. Photos would not really be able to show the impressiveness of the artwork anyway, it is something that needs to be seen with your own eyes. You can take photos in St Peter’s Basilica, however my camera battery ran out of power just as I entered. I’ll use that as an excuse to go back.
Breath taking architecture and sculptures.
It’s good to see there still around to be apreciated by us now.
Your photographs of the Vatican are fantastic It makes me want to vist just to see that.

Thanks fam for the comments. The art and architecture in the Vatican is incredible, photos can’t show how truly amazing it is. You have to see it with your own eyes.
indeed vatican is rich of church historical building. I often wonder how do they paint those in the ceiling.
With a lot of hard work by very talented artists. Much of the best ceiling artwork from that time is done in fresco, which is painting on a thin layer of wet plaster. This makes it even more incredible, and also helps preserve the artwork so well.
wow. you even know those detail.
Beautiful pictures. This is definitely one of the most visit places in the world!
Thanks Natalie. Yes it is a very popular destination, I couldn’t believe the amount of tourists crammed in the halls and rooms of the Vatican. But it’s so popular for a reason, it’s amazing!
