Although many of the ruins in Ayutthaya, Thailand are quiet crumbled, there are some that have survived and have been beautifully preserved and restored. This photo is of one of the few Buddha statues that somehow survived in one piece at the temple of Wat Mahathat. Behind it you can see one of the main towers of the temple that has been badly damaged during the sacking of Ayutthaya in 1767 and the following weathering since it was left to ruin. It is certainly still an impressive sight.
