Veronika loves things; in particular, old things that have a story and possess a certain charm and character that seems to have been mostly lost in modern design. Because of this, I often find myself tagging along with her to op shops and antique stores in search of something a little different. It’s never with regret, as I too share her preference for old design, especially when it comes to architecture. It is this love of the old world that has us drooling whenever we visit Europe, and we were both in heaven as we wandered around and explored Paris.

We loved exploring all of the old buildings and historic sites in Paris, but we had one other excursion we wanted to make while we were in the city that would satisfy our love of the old and Veronika’s passion for antiques. We wanted to visit one of Paris’ famous flea markets.

In the end, we decided to visit Marché aux puces de la Porte de Vanves – one of Paris’ smaller flea markets situated in the city’s 14th arrondissement (more info at the end of the post).

Porte de Vanves Flea Market in Paris

Porte de Vanves is easy to navigate, located along only two streets, and it has a nice and relaxed vibe, mostly visited by locals and the odd solo tourist – there were no tour groups here. There are some beautiful pieces on offer and at really great prices. Amazing 18th to 20th century antiques, paintings, ornaments, knickknacks, and just about anything else you can think of is on offer from hundreds of vendors. For me, I love the books and old antique cameras that I stumbled upon. So much history in one place.

Veronika wanted to buy just about everything. I think next time we will have to visit Paris with empty suitcases. And oh yes, there will be a next time! Marché aux puces de la Porte de Vanves is definitely worth visiting in Paris if you love flea markets.

How to visit Marché aux puces de la Porte de Vanves

Marché aux puces de la Porte de Vanves is located along Avenue Marc Sangnier and Avenue Georges Lafenestre in Paris’ 14th arrondissement. The flea market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am until 2pm, so make sure to visit in the morning as many vendors will start packing up by lunchtime.

The easiest way to get to Marché aux puces de la Porte de Vanves is to take the metro line 13 to Porte de Vanves station – the market is located just around the corner.
