Bakong in the Temples of Angkor, Cambodia

The temple of Bakong in Angkor, Cambodia

Bakong is part of the Roluos group of temples, and one of the oldest in the temples of Angkor in Cambodia. This royal temple was part of the ancient city of Hariharalaya and was built in the 9th century. I took this photo after walking down a long path past the huge moat that surrounds the temple, and it was certainly an impressive sight to behold. When I walked up the tall steps to the top of the temple, I had a great view out across the surrounding area.

It is very beautiful and interesting, Shaun. I didn’t find it creepy, but I guess all ancient ruins can be a bit creepy in some way. So much history!
