The Central Highlands of Vietnam is vastly different to the rest of the country, and its main city, Dalat, certainly reflects this. Located on a plateau, Dalat’s high altitude means that temperatures are quite cool compared to the hot and humid coast of Vietnam. We decided to stop here on our way south through the country to see what the area has to offer, but unfortunately, we found ourselves sick when we were here, so we didn’t get to see a lot of the Central Highlands. That didn’t stop us from at least exploring some of the city of Dalat, though.

The hilly terrain of Dalat gives it a strange layout compared to other cities in Vietnam, its streets curving to the contours of the terrain.

As we walked along the main tourist street of Trung Cong Dinh, we found ourselves in the center of town, wandering through the central market.

At night, I actually had to wear a jumper to keep warm. Yes, I needed a jumper in Vietnam. If you need a break from the heat, head up to Dalat for a few days.

I also ventured out of the city the next day, but I’m going to have to return to explore the beautiful countryside of the Central Highlands. It looks stunning from what I saw on the journey up there.
