The Cotswolds has so much to offer that I quickly realised that one day was nowhere near enough to see much of it. I could only just scratch the surface with a visit to a couple of the popular Cotswold Villages. On my quick drive through this beautiful region of England, I visited the charming small village of Bibury in the morning, before spending way too long in the popular Cotswold town of Bourton-on-the-Water. It was mid afternoon by the time I reached Burford, so a quick stroll was all I had time for before heading home.

Burford is one of the larger towns of the Cotswolds, with a bustling main street filled with interesting shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. I parked my car down a side street and walked among the charming honey coloured stone buildings that characterize the Cotswolds.

It was a rainy afternoon, adding a dramatic tone to the town, but it didn’t stop people from being out and about. I wandered down the main street, peeking in the shops and admiring the old architecture. I found a pub or two that looked rather inviting, if only I had the time.

The rain began to get heavier and the day was wearing on, so I walked up the opposite side of the street, darting in and out of shops to avoid the rain, with a quick dash back to the car when the rain eased off a little.

This was just a very quick taste of Burford, a town that I would love to return to when I have more time.
