I know it has been very quiet here on The Road to Anywhere lately, and no it’s not because I’m slacking off or because I’ve stopped travelling. The reason it has been so quiet here is because we have been flat out getting ready for our next big adventure. If you follow The Road to Anywhere’s fan page on Facebook, you may have noticed a few mentions and photos of a campervan. That is the big hint towards the first part of this adventure.

I have been living in Brisbane for well over six years now, and Veronika has lived here all of her life, and these days whenever we are not travelling, we are just living and working to pay bills and hopefully save for another trip. This time, we’ve decided to throw all of that away, sell most of our possessions and hit the road for as long as we can.

The first part of our trip is going to be a huge road trip around the bottom of Australia from Brisbane and around to Perth so that we can visit my family. We will be travelling around in a van that we have decked out as a campervan, and for those wondering, yes Mindy will be coming with us.

Things have been ridiculously hectic lately as we had to move out of our house sooner than expected, so we had to rush to get everything sold and sorted. To be honest, the past couple of months have been crazy and we have both been running around like mad chooks, however, somehow we seem to have pulled it all off, and right now we are camped out in Darlington Park – a nice shady campground on the Albert River just south of Beaudesert.

I will be working at my job for another two months before we head off on our trip, but it’s so good to be camping and relaxing away from all the hustle and bustle and madness.

After we arrive in Perth, we will be dropping Mindy (and our campervan) off at my Mum’s place before hopping on a plane to Hanoi, Vietnam. This is where the even bigger part of our adventure will begin. We are hoping to spend around 5-6 months travelling around South-East Asia, visiting Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia, and if possible we are hoping to make it to Myanmar (Burma) as well.

I can’t describe how excited I am about 2013. It is going to be a huge year of travel and experiences, and even better, I get to do it together with my lovely wife.

So I have to apologise for the lack of content on the blog lately, but I promise that there will be a lot of exciting new stories and pretty photos going up throughout the rest of the year. Stay tuned and as usual, thanks for reading! 🙂
