Hartebeest in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Today’s travel photo is of a hartebeest on the grassy plains of Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Hartebeest are one of the larger species of antelope found in Serengeti, and their large size means that they are a much harder prey for predators who prefer to go for the smaller antelopes. I took this photo on my first day in the park as we crossed the grassy plains to our camp in the centre of the national park. I saw quite a few hartebeest mixed in with the huge herds of smaller antelope here.
