If you have been reading this blog for a while, you will know all about my love of hiking and bush walking. I was contacted recently by a publisher of a new bush walking book – Top Walks in New South Wales by Ken Eastwood, and was offered a copy to review. It sounded right up my alley, so I gladly accepted the copy.

Top Walks in New South Wales is an Explore Australia book, written by Ken Eastwood based on his own adventures. He is an avid bush walker and has personally walked all of the walks in this book.

The book starts off by giving advice about bush walking in Australia, what to take etc. It is then split into different regions of New South Wales for easy reference. Each walk listed in the book contains detailed information about the walk, telling you how long it is, how much time it will take, the difficulty and what to bring. There is a map of every walk, along with Ken’s own detailed notes from the trail as well as some of his photography.

I particularly like the in depth descriptions in the book as I can get a real idea of what the trail is like before I set off. When I recently travelled through the Blue Mountains on my recent camper van trip across Australia, I was really wishing that I could have stopped to do some hiking. After reading Ken’s descriptions in this book I can’t wait to go back there to try them out.

If you are in New South Wales and love bush walking, this is a great guide to have. I will definitely be taking it with me on my next trip.

If you would like to purchase a copy of Top Walks in New South Wales, it is available in most book stores, or you can buy it straight from the Explore Australia site here.

This book was provided to me free of charge. All opinions however, are my own.
